Cooking

Cooking is a core gameplay mechanic in inZOI, allowing Zois to prepare meals to satisfy hunger and potentially gain other effects.

How to Cook
To cook, interact with a Refrigerator or Oven and select the Make Food action. This opens the cooking panel displaying available Recipes.
Selecting a recipe will show its requirements:
- Cost: Each recipe costs a certain amount of Meow (in-game currency).
- Cooking Skill Level: Some recipes require a minimum skill level.
- Required Objects: Many recipes need specific furniture like Countertops, Ovens, Induction Cooktops, or an outdoor BBQ Grill.
- Ingredients: Some recipes require specific ingredients.
If any requirements are not met (missing skill level, objects, or ingredients), the recipe will appear locked in the panel.
Ingredients
Certain recipes require specific ingredients, such as Tomatoes or Fish Fillets. Ingredients can be acquired in several ways:
- Gathering from Growable Plants.
- Fishing.
- Purchasing them through the Pocket Market app on the Smartphone.
Serving Size
Most recipes in inZOI currently produce single-serving meals. If you want to cook for multiple Zois, you need to prepare specific group-sized dishes which become available as your Cooking Skill increases:
- Level 3: Pizza, Cake, Birthday Cake
- Level 5: Fried Chicken, Steak (requires BBQ Grill)
Note: Be mindful when cooking group meals. Zois may autonomously clean up the entire dish, including uneaten portions, after taking a single serving if not managed closely.
Spoiled Food & Dangers
Food left out for too long will spoil. Consuming spoiled food can cause food poisoning, which may potentially lead to death. Additionally, cooking carries a risk of starting fires.
Alternatives to Cooking
If you don't want to cook, Zois can:
- Grab a quick bite from the Refrigerator.
- Order food, ingredients, or drinks for delivery using the Pocket Market app on their Smartphone.
Upcoming Features
The developers have mentioned plans to enhance the cooking system after the Early Access period, including:
- Cooking Together: A group social activity.
- Cooking Careers: New job opportunities.
- Zoi Food Preferences: Zois developing likes/dislikes.
- Ingredient Gardening: Expanding options to grow ingredients.
- Food Effects: Consuming certain foods may apply different effects (like food coma), planned for implementation during Early Access.
